Can you transfer it all back to your computer's HD at this point?

I would go for a refurbished iPod, in the Apple online store...
And this is why I haven't gotten one yet. Seriously.
[this is good]
When I dock mine it reloads them all onto my hard drive. Maybe they would do that for you. I have 18 days worth loaded and it would just crush me to start from scratch. Mine are on a puny shuffle.
I was told the file transfer only works one way; i.e., you can upload from a computer to the iPod, but you can't transfer files from the iPod to the computer.
Let me speak with the resident Apple genius. He's way better than those people they pay...
Apple Shmapple...
I understand there's some software out there (though not official one from Apple) that lets you transfer stuff from iPod to a new PC which as you mention is not possible with the official one.
This doesn't make sense...I've run Macs for over 13 years now and my iPod is older than yours. It has the "calculator" display. ;p

The music is on your COMPUTER in iTunes! It's a question of authorizing a new piece of equipment. You're allowed 5. (unless you're doing something "illegal..."

Yes, the music is on my computer--but I was hoping to be able to just simply copy the library I have on this iPod to the new one without having to upload everything (picking and choosing all over again) from iTunes.
Upload it to a different computer that you haven't used iTunes on?
